In the last weekend of the official season on both the European Tour and PGA Tour events were played in Hong Kong and Florida.
Also being played last week was The Australian Masters in Melbourne where Tiger dropped in courtesy of a government supported $3 million appearance fee. For good measure he stuck to his part of the bargain and won the event, thereby putting Australian golf on the map, abet rather briefly.
I suppose we should be thankful that Tiger still shows up at the home of golf from time to time without the need for a government funded bung.
In Hong Kong Frenchman Grégory Bourdy held off a sustained charge by Rory McIlroy to triumph by two shots at the UBS Hong Kong. Bourdy also claimed a spot at this weeks Dubai shindig. Mcllroy leads the Race to Dubai standings going into the event, his fellow Northern Irishman Darren Clarke however missed out on entering the Dubai field by a single place – ooch!
On the PGA Tour Canadian Stephen Ames won his second title in three years at the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Disney World on Sunday, edging George McNeill and Justin Leonard. Other Fantasy Golf professionals Justin Rose and Zach Johnson also collected points in Florida.
The week 20 top scorer is David Hutton of Downfield with 1890 points, he claims the Roxburghe fourball. Runners up Joan Black and Alan Downie of Fraserburgh can call to claim a dozen Callaway balls.
With just one event remaining overall Fantasy Golf leader Geoff Pryor of Gloucester remains just over 300 points ahead of Stuart McQueen with Mark Lewis a further 140 points adrift. However 300 points can be lost in the blink of an eye this week with scores from Dubai to 50% bonus points added.
Good Luck
