The Scotlands Fantasy Golf game is based on your player’s performance in tournaments on the 2009 PGA & European Tours.
 
Your team will score Fantasy Points based on selected tournaments; fantasy golf’s spring league 2009 tees off at the WGC-CA Championship, on 12th March 2009, and runs to the US Open which finished on the 21st June 2009. The game then breaks for 2 weeks allowing you to pick a new team before resuming at the Open de France ALSTOM on 1st July 2009. The summer/ autumn league then runs through to the Dubai World Championships which ends on 22nd November 2009.

The full list of tournaments appears on the Upcoming Tournaments page. This schedule of sanctioned Fantasy Golf events may be subject to change as information becomes available from the US and European Tours.

You just need to select 12 golfers to make up your Fantasy Golf team. Your Fantasy team will then receive Fantasy Points for the real life performance of your selected players.

You may only enter 1 team per entrant. Any entrant found to have entered more than 1 team will be disqualified and removed from the game.

Each week you need to activate your account using the Activation Code printed in Tuesdays paper. Without the pin code you cannot log on to your team to make transfers or view the league tables. If you don't has access to the paper then why not invite a friend that lives in Scotland to play and get the access code from them each week! 

Name Your Team & Choose a Player Profile 

You must provide a unique name for your team. Please note any names deemed inappropriate or offensive will not be allowed and teams will be disqualified and withdrawn from the game.

You will also be asked 'What Type of Golfer Are You?'.  This will be added to your 'profile' in the game and will tell your fellow Fantasy Managers what type of playing style they are up against!


How to Pick Your Team

Create your Fantasy Golf team from the 'real life' players on the European & PGA Tours.

Pick 1 golfer from each of the Tour Categories (Group 1 - Group 12). Golfers in each category are grouped together as they are of similar rank and the categories themselves ascend in order of rank i.e. Golfers in Group 2 are generally of a higher rank than the golfers in Group 3.

You can either manually pick a team using your golfing know-how, or use the 'Lucky Dip' option, where the computer picks a team for you. 

Choose you captain strategy carefully; if you select Tiger Woods then you will NOT be able to transfer him out until the summer/ autumn season. To de-select Tiger Wood you need to re-set you your team and pick your captain again this is the only way to remove him as captain in the game.
NOTE: you will only be able to re-set you team before the transfer deadline for the spring league and during the 2 week break in the game.



Important: Free Transfer Windows

Up until 12.00 (UK Time) on 12th March 2009 there is a transfer amnesty – before this deadline you can shuffle your fantasy team around to your heart's content without using your transfers. Transfers made after the transfer window closes will be taken from the transfer allocation for that week. 

The transfer window reopens at 00.01 (UK time) on 22nd June 2009 after the US Open. During the transfer window you can again make transfers for free until  17.00 (UK Time) on 1st July 2009.


Submitting your Team

Once your team is complete you must submit it to start scoring points. All teams which are complete by the transfer amnesty deadline will be submitted automatically. Any teams incomplete or entered after the transfer amnesty will need to be manually submitted to start scoring points. To do this press the 'submit' button which will appear on the 'team' page once your team is FULLY built.




Spring league

The Spring league starts on the 12th March 2009 with the WGC-CA Championship and finishes on the 21st June 2009 with the US Open.

Season break

There will then be a 2 week break in the game, you will NOT have to re-register during this period. During this time the transfer window will re-open allowing you to jiggle your team to your heart's content without effecting your transfer allocation. If you are happy with your team leave it as it is and you can continue playing with it in the summer/ autumn league. The points that you gained for the spring league will be re-set to zero. The final adjustments to your team will need to be completed by 17:00 (UK TIME) on the 1stJuly 2009 to score points for the first tournament of the summer/ autumn league.

Summer/Autumn league
 
Summer/Autumn starts on 1st July 2009 with the Open de France ALSTOM and runs through to 22nd November 2009, finishing with the Dubai World Championships.



Every Tuesday there are superb prizes on offer to the top weekly scorers - such as fourballs at Gleneagles, tickets, pro-am invites or hospitality to Scotland's top golf tournament.

The opportunities to win prizes are:

Overall season:
The overall winner will receive a luxury weekend golf break for four at Gleneagles.

Overall Runner Up:
The player in second place consol themselves with a full set of Callaway clubs from driver to putter including bag.


Team of the week:
The overall top weekly scorer will claim a fourball at one of Scotland's top courses (or other superb golfing prize). Runners up can claim a dozen Callaway black Tour golf balls Plus up to 10 top scoring teams each week can claim a pair of passes to either the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles or Sunday passes to the dunhill links championship at St Andrews. Please note weekly prizes will alter depending on the timing around major tournaments held in Scotland.

All weekly prizes must be claimed by checking the leaderboards printed each Tuesday in The Scotsman.


Team of the week at each of the Majors:
At each of this season's majors (Masters, US Open, Open, USPGA) the top weekly scorer prize will switch to a unique golfing prize courtesy of Highland Spring.


Team of the month:
The team with the highest score each month can claim a (custom built to their specifications) Callaway FT9 driver.

League of Leagues Champions:
The mini-league with the highest score at the end of the tournament will win a fourball at one of Scotland's top courses.

Winning Golf Club:
The club at the top of the "Golf Club League" will claim a superb club outing to Gleneagles for twelve members with golf and lunch.

Fantasy points will be awarded based on the 'real-life' performance of the players. The table below outlines how points will be awarded. 

Bonus points of +50% will be awarded for certain tournaments as viewed on the Upcoming Tournaments page.

Captaincy

Choose one player from your team to be the 'Captain' of your team.  Your chosen Captain will remain your team Captain until you transfer him.

This player will DOUBLE his game points during the time he remains as Captain. 

You can change your Captain by transferring the player out of your team - you will then be asked to select a different player to be your Captain. If no captain is chosen, no player will receive double points!

The ONLY results used for the game are those initially reported by the key news agencies. If any decision is reversed at a later date, we will not make any amendments to the results first given. 




All teams will receive an allocation of 2 transfers for each week of the season.
 
All teams will be given 1 additional transfer (3 in total) for each of Bonus Event tournaments. A list of Bonus Event tournaments can be viewed on the Upcoming Tournaments page.
 
Transfers will be allocated at 00.01 (UK time) every Tuesday each tournament week of the season. Transfers will be allocated throughout the season as follows:

A transfer amnesty is in place until 12.00 (UK Time) 12th March 2009, and from 00.01 (UK time) on 22nd June 2009 until 17.00 (UK Time) on 1st July 2009. Transfers may be made for free during the transfer amnesties and will not count towards your allocation. 

You cannot carry transfers over from one week to another. If you have any transfers left at the end of the week you will lose them.


Transfer Deadlines

All transfers must be made by 17.00 (UK time) on the day before each tournament starts.

Only the players that you have named in your Fantasy team at the transfer deadline will score fantasy points for that weekend. Any transfers that you make once the transfer deadline passes will not score Fantasy Points until the next eligible tournament.

Teams completed when the transfer amnesty ends at 12.00(UK Time) 12th March 2009, and 17.00 (UK Time) on 1st July 2009 will be automatically submitted to score points. Any team completed after these deadlines will need to be manually submitted once they are complete and will not start scoring points until the following eligible scoring tournament.

TheTime of transfers will only be recorded as per the server clock (displayed in the top right hand side of the screen). We will not enter into discussion about times of transfer, or backdate points for any reason.




You can join the game at any point throughout the competition. However you will not score points until your team is submitted.




Provided 10 players register from the same golf club that golf club will automatically be entered into the club league; The average score from club members will then determine that clubs score and position within the club league.




Every single team is automatically entered into the “Overall League". However, you can also enter your team into a private mini-league for your friends.

To do this just log on to your team and visit ‘Mini-League Admin’ under the ‘League’ section of the website.

You can be Chairman  of 3 mini-leagues, however you can only be the 'participant' of a maximum of 10 mini-leagues (including those you Chair). Once you have joined a mini-league you cannot be moved or deleted so choose your leagues carefully!

The 'League of Leagues' competition can only be entered by mini-leagues who qualifies with the minimum number of 5 teams. You may register your mini-league up until 23.59 (UK time) on 5th April 2009 for the spring league and 23.59 (UK time) on 12th August 2009 for the summer/autumn league . Any mini-leagues entered after this date, or do not have the minimum required number of teams will not qualify for entry into the 'League of Leagues'.
